Description:
Fennel House was originally two dwellings, which we were commissioned to link to provide a large central kitchen and living space that would separate the main house from guest bedrooms, and establish a greater connection to the garden.
The linking building was formed using a limited and complimentary palette of materials including Weston Red cedar cladding, timber doors and windows of a similar tone, and steel roofing. Slim structural steel posts behind the glazing line allow for a large unified expanse of doors and windows giving wonderful views and access to the garden. The strong external vertical lines are further enhanced by the standing seam of the steel roof, and the deep canopy gives striking depth to the original main house, both inside and out.
