Description:
Hambush Farm is a Grade II listed farmhouse for which we were commissioned to replace an existing rear conservatory with a new extension to form a large and light family kitchen and living room.
As a listed building the creative process was inevitably a challenging one, but a contemporary flat roof design on the new extension allowed us to overcome a number of potential issues, working closely with the local Conservation Officer. The flat roof maximises the amount of light entering the new space and structural glass sensitively links the old and new buildings.
Furthermore, pocket sliding Sunflex glass doors, which disappear into the external walls when open, provide fantastic uninterrupted views.
The new extension delivers a beautiful light family space that not only has a material connection to the existing building, but a strong link between the house and garden.
