Description:
This project is comprised of a café/work hub to provide further amenity and community benefit to an adjacent residential development.
The opportunity for people to use the café/work hub for small business use will help reduce the requirement for people to commute to work, helping to increase the sustainability of the overall development.
The positioning of the café/work hub is adjacent to existing Roman barn foundation ruin, which have been exposed and recorded. These ruins will be covered over with a geotexile membrane and backfilled thereby preserving them in situ, in line with Historic England recommendations.
The form and layout of the café/work hub building takes its cue from the Roman remains but building it away from the existing ruins avoids potential disruption of known archaeology.
