We are wrapping up the technical design for work to start on site at this amazing spot nestled within the trees near Frome, Somerset. Our client came to us after purchasing this very run down 1950s house, with wildly overgrown vegetation and crumbling outbuildings, looking for help in creating their dream family home. The proposed design includes a renovation of the existing house to give it some much needed charm and the creation of a generous two-storey extension which mirrors the form of the existing building, but presents itself as a clean and contemporary sibling. The design maximises natural light within the home, which was a key design driver due the client’s visual impairment. The carefully sized and positioned glazed openings will enable them to comfortably perform daily tasks in beautifully lit spaces throughout the house. The main living space on the ground floor leads out onto a large terrace, connecting the home to the orchard sitting in the garden. We are really looking forward to seeing the finished article and this incredible site being brought back to its former glory.
